Connecting Families and Community Resources

Head Start for Kent County is a non-profit agency that provides holistic, family-centered, early childhood services at no cost to qualifying families. Their programs support the well-being and development of children from birth to age five by focusing on education, nutrition, medical and dental care, parent involvement, and social services.

We provide comprehensive services that wrap around the whole family. Our work goes beyond just providing preschool by day, we form strong relationships with families, helping them to meet their needs and reach goals including through times of emergency and in-crisis.

“Through G.R.A.C.E. we can connect families directly to the resources they need, we can actually see the connections happening, and progress being made.”

It is a priority for Head Start for Kent County to build strong community partnerships that help us provide the best services for our families. The G.R.A.C.E. Network allows us to feel confident that families are getting the services they need, that are going to help them as a family, support the child, and strengthen the unit as a whole.

As we continue to strengthen our partnerships through the G.R.A.C.E. Network, we are interested to see how we can continue to close service gaps for the families. The Network helps us to be even more intentional about our recruitment and targeted enrollment of families experiencing homelessness, and to build programing and provide information that meets our families needs.

More than just preschool, Head Start for Kent County’s goal is to create a strong foundation for each child’s future success.
