What G.R.A.C.E. Means to Me | Participant Story

Real People. Real Stories. Real Solutions.

I am a single mother of 2 beautiful girls. I had been going through hardship coming into 2020. I was “couch hopping” and even stayed in a car I had during this time. CPS eventually was involved. They place my little one and me in a shelter for a couple of months. Then, connected me with the Salvation Army which then led me to meet my wonderful Specialist at Community Rebuilders. It was like God was finally answering my prayers. About a week before I went into labor, my Specialist contacted me about a place, set me up with a viewing, and literally helped me move into this wonderful roof over my children’s head right as I was released from giving birth. If anything, I say God does things in mysterious ways. I’ve also come to realize that no matter how on top of things you can be, some situations go beyond us, especially with little ones.

“I’ve learned that no matter how difficult it may be, or how independent you may feel, it’s ok to ask for help sometimes. Because when I asked for help, it literally saved my family.”

The G.R.A.C.E. Network has been helped me to be able to pursue my GED with the help of childcare and tutoring supports provided by supportive services.
