The Community Rebuilders Housing Navigation Center provides short-term, low-barrier, emergency accommodation to persons experiencing a housing crisis while they seek permanent housing. Individuals and families are referred to the Community Rebuilders Housing Navigation Center via our community’s coordinated entry system, operated by the Salvation Army.
What is Bridge Housing?
Bridge housing supports Housing First by providing homeless individuals and families with safe, decent, low-barrier emergency accommodation, while they seek permanent housing. Persons referred to a bridge housing option will receive a dual referral to a permanent housing option supported by Supportive Services for Veteran Families, Veterans Administration or Continuum of Care. The goal is for persons residing at the Housing Navigation Center to successfully exit to permanent housing in 30 days or less.
What is Housing First?
Housing First is an approach to quickly and successfully connect individuals and families experiencing homelessness to permanent housing without preconditions and barriers to entry, such as sobriety, treatment or service participation requirements. (Source: HUD)
What is low-barrier and why do we support it?
We support low-barrier emergency accommodation because it ensures that our community’s most vulnerable homeless individuals and families have immediate and easy access to shelter. We focus our services on assisting people to move into permanent housing as quickly as possible. By reducing or eliminating unnecessary restrictions on our consumer’s activities in the shelter, we promote a safe environment of equity, hope and community.
